The vintage thinking is becoming more and more popular in almost every style of music. Dozens pf bands like wolfmother take the best from the good old days and just brew it with modern technologies. The product is way better than some of the experimental efforts but definitely worse than the original stuff.

Lindstorm is another guy who is missing the good old retro future times. It is an electronic project playing something that can be described as vintage space disco. The vintage synts are mixed with groovy bass lines, minimalistic drums and lots of analog sounds. Of course some of the space groove is lost in progress still Lindstorm is one of the best soundtracks if you want to get green star shaped sunglasses and go meet the space guests.

You still have some time to grab his CD till 12th of April and celebrate another space day in space disco mood!

Really can’t get enough of Japan. You can spend years on searching the Japanese music for great bands and then just stumble upon some band that can’t even be described in normal words.

pt1

Plus-Tech Squeeze Box is technically one of the j-pop types called picopop, practically it is a crazy mix of electronic, more traditional j-pop, jazz, lounge and even some indie rock. And it is hell of a positive band. My favorite album Fakebox is the mood of Tokio, Japanese school girls, crazy arcades and sushi dinners. It is a ride from busy business mornings to space exploration and retro games.

pt2

First time when I heard them it seemed to me so fast that I wasn’t able even to get the idea of this music. It is this like incredibly fast japan that is written to a CD. It’s not a music it is a neon poster of a happy life. Some people prefer alcohol, some prefer energy drinks, my recipe is at least 3 songs of Plus-Tech Squeeze Box and you will have good mood for hours!

Enter Shikari

They exploded about a year ago. Within few months these English boys became an underground sensation.

Enter Shikari

A rarely successful experiment of combining some post-hardcore stuff with dance music. Early demos were a sensation and these guys quickly became Kerrang! favorites. They got the idea after an evening when they visited a Dillinger Escape Plan gig and went to a dance party as a result – songs combining complicated hardcore parts with trance keys and breakdowns. Their shows have an immense energy and rapidly change from moshing to dancing in seconds, somehow this is similar to some of the modern breakcore DJs.

Enter Shikari

Releasing their debut work “Anything Can Happen In The Next Half Hour” in 2007 they really broke into charts and tours. The album is very solid and is like a sci-fi opera with lots of keyboards and kind of a retro futuristic feel. It is raging from drum-and-bass interludes to some almost mathcore parts. Lot of people, including me, hope that 2008 will bring a new awesome album by this guys.
