The Haggis Horns is a very nice funk ensemble from England, or better to say deep funk. The sound combines jazz, funk, afrobeat and soul; and the musicians are spectacular. Actually a great hit album for every summer.
08 – Cheese People
Russian madness from Samara. Cheese People is a four-piece band that mixes together funk, disco, electronica and hip-hop and has no analogues in Russia and even in the whole world. The sound is influenced by European indie and electronica bands and the vocals are bit like Russian adaptation of j-pop vocal style. This band actually reminded me of some of my favorite Japanese female fronted bands like YMCK, Plus-Tech Squeeze Box etc.

Meco – Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk (1977)
It’s hard to imagine something huger that Star Wars, this colossal white whale of the sci-fi that has dozens of fans around the world (including me J). Discussing the music of the six movies can take hours but there is still one thing that lots of SW fans don’t know of.

Ta-daaa. Please welcome the ultimate funky mix of the awesome star wars music composed by John Williams and mixed by Meco. It shakes? It makes you dance? Hell yeah! I’d say it’s the death star of all the possible dance floor hits. 33 minutes starting from the 20th century fox fanfare to the most melodic and epic tunes of the saga. The alien cantina band is also not forgotten.

So keep it up! This tape is 30 years old and it sound way better than most of the modern DJs. Maybe the key ingredients are the original melodies or maybe it’s the funky feeling of the 70th so close to the space. I can’t really tell what makes this record great!
