Actually I never heard of her. Few weeks ago I found her latest release Love Tattoo in one Spanish blog and she immediately landed on top of my Last.fm and began fueling me from my ipod.

The Ditty Bops

Unbelievable couple.

The Ditty Bops

The Ditty Bops are two girls Amanda Barrett and Abby DeWald and the band is a mystery from the beginning. These two were on a search for a lost cat as they stumbled upon a backyard of a stranger who was a musician and a guitar collector. He encouraged them to form a band. Not even a band, an adventure that never ends. They sometimes add a little bit of theatre to their shows and the last tour was a cross country on bicycles!

The Ditty Bops

As for the music it’s even more interesting that the outfits and ideas. Ditty Bops are a mix of country, cabaret, saloon and a huge part of the so called western swing. The have extraordinary melodies, nice female vocals, a vide range of string instruments like banjo and mandolin. The lyrics are smart and interesting, a combination of simple words that makes a huge meaning. But still the main thing is the feeling, they have nice groove and have really something more than a casual swing or country band.

Stubbs The Zombie OST

I’m personally a fan of different zombie stuff. Mostly zombie sound is something like from the 50th some early rock and roll or swing or jazz. This is a soundtrack to a retro zombie game. Tunes from the 50th and modern independent bands = omg it’s a success!

The bands include: Death Cab For Cutie, The Dandy Warhols, Ben Kweller, Phantom Planet etc.

The tunes are mostly well known from movies like back to future and cry baby, you can even find “Strangers in the Night Here”. The whole idea is brilliant and the realization is also great. It’s really cool to see that game developers are interested in keeping the retro horror style and not like in making a standard game. As for the best songs from this plate I can name Earth Angel by Death Cab For Cutie, Shakin’ All Over by Rose Hill Drive and Mr. Sandman by Oranger.
